Yield:500ml
Method:Mixing
Instructions
1. Step 1: Melt the soap. Grate the bar soap into small pieces using a kitchen grater. Heat the water in a pot (don’t bring it to a boil!) and stir in the grated soap until it has completely dissolved.

2. Step 2: Add baking soda. Add the baking soda to the warm liquid and stir well. It helps to break down grease and neutralize odors. Make sure the baking soda dissolves completely.

3. Step 3: Stir in vinegar. Now, add the vinegar. Be careful: it may foam a little – that’s normal! Vinegar helps prevent limescale buildup and gives your glassware a beautiful shine.

4. Step 4: Add essential oil and cornstarch. If you prefer your DIY dish soap to be creamier, you can stir in some cornstarch. Finally, add the essential oil for a pleasant scent and antibacterial properties.

5. Step 5: Let it cool & bottle it up. Allow the mixture to cool and pour it into an empty dish soap bottle or a soap dispenser. Your homemade dish soap is ready!
Ingredients
* 500 ml water
* 2 tbsp baking soda (for grease-cutting power and odor neutralization)
* 1 tsp vinegar (for shine and preventing limescale)
* 1 tsp grated castile soap or Aleppo soap (for foam and cleaning action)
* 10 drops essential oil (e.g., lemon, lavender, or tea tree oil for antibacterial properties and freshness)
* Optional: 1 tsp cornstarch (for a creamier consistency)

◉ Application: Simply apply as usual to the sponge or directly into the dishwater. It works great for dishes with normal soiling.

◉ Durability: Your DIY dish soap will last for about 2–3 weeks. Since it doesn’t contain preservatives, it’s best to make a fresh batch regularly.

◉ Tip: If it thickens after a few days, just add some warm water and shake well.

◉ Soaking: Let the dishes soak briefly in warm water with a pinch of baking soda.

◉ Greasy Pans: Add a few drops of lemon juice to the dishwater – it helps with grease removal.

◉ No Strong Foam: No problem! Commercial dish soaps contain foaming agents that don’t contribute to the cleaning effect. Your homemade dish soap cleans just as well!
